Karen Woolf
Clinical Nurse/Adult Educator and Trainer
Karen Woolf what is your role at TriEx? My main role at TriEx is as Clinical Nurse, Occupational Health however I am also qualified as an adult educator and trainer and present seminars and teaching sessions on a variety of Occupational Health issues.
What does it mean that you DO and what do you love the most about that? I have responsibility for the training, clinical support and programme development for the nurse team. I also have regular contracts around Christchurch which includes heavy and light manufacturing companies. For contract clients I might be carrying out health surveillance, organising and carrying out health promotion initiatives, holding clinics, carrying out training or taking part in health and safety audits.
I like that no two days are the same but I especially enjoy being not only part of the TriEx team but part of other Companies’ teams also. Building a rapport with employees and managers is an important part of my work and this enables people to come to me with any health concerns they may have.
In addition to work how do you like to invest your time? I like to read novels, it’s my relaxation time and I enjoy theatre shows. Having emigrated from the UK in 2006 I’m still discovering the real NZ. I also love visiting Australia….one of my three adventurous sons lives there now.
What ten words/values/activities help describe you and your life? Family, organised, happy, accepting, honesty, food, adventure, travel, books, Skype.
